The Stellenbosch/Northwestern Global Health Knowledge Hub: a first look at the new on-campus facility in South Africa

October 2024

The expansion of the Stellenbosch University/Northwestern University partnership - the Global Health Knowledge Hub - welcomes the strengthening of student exchange programs, research collaborations and more. Serving as a home to this exciting growth is a dedicated hub on the campus of Stellenbosch University’s South African campus.

This hub allows Northwestern and Stellenbosch students to deepen their interactions on campus and includes a dedicated residential living arrangement for faculty and students.

The setting supports the partnership’s work in developing cutting-edge educational and research programs, including graduate education, global surgery, biomedical engineering, pathogen genomics and health policy among others.

The joint NU/SU biomedical lab area will be included in the Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering building and will include three offices and a workspace.
The general work areas in the mechatronics lab are used by final-year students, and include 3D printer facilities.
