- Haiti Emergency Medical Relief Efforts.
After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January 2010, Northwestern's Center for Global Health and three other Chicago medical institutions came together to provide a united response to the medical needs and services required. Additionally, two Haitians with severe spinal cord injuries were brought to NU for medical care.
- Antiretroviral Drug Concentrations in African Women During Pregnancy.
Funded by the Falk Trust, Northwestern University and its partner, Makerere University in Uganda, investigated the changes in antiretorviral drug levels that may occur as a result of pregnancy in African women.
- A Framework for Global Health (Frameworks). The National Institutes of Health sponsors the Frameworks grant, which is a campus-wide project that expands global health activities on both campuses by creating new courses and research opportunities abroad as well as a concentration in global health for medical students. The project is administered by the International Program Development office in Evanston and has developed programs in China, Mexico, South Africa, and Uganda.
